Elizabeth Cady Stanton died in New York City on October 26, 1902, at age 86. More than half a century earlier, she helped organize the Seneca Falls Convention and drafted its Declaration of Sentiments, which boldly declared that "all men and women are created equal."
For decades, she worked alongside Susan B. Anthony to push for women's rights, from voting to property and divorce laws. The 19th Amendment finally came in 1920, 18 years after her death.
